Southbroom
The quiet little village of Southbroom is situated four kilometers to the south of Margate on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. The beach is protected by shark nets and is patrolled by lifeguards during school holidays. Grassy banks amid lush green tropical vegetation adjoining the beach are equipped with braai facilities, and are a superb venue for an afternoon braai or picnic. Adjoining the beach there is a lagoon, which offers safe bathing for children. The lagoon is also a favourite spot for small canoes and sailing boats. There are two tidal pools here for children.
Southbroom also has tennis and bowling clubs and a golf course - the Southbroom Golf Course.
The nearby Frederika Nature Reserve consisting of 8 hectares of mature, virgin dune forest is rated one of the finest examples of dune forest remaining in Natal.
