Situated in the Central Lowveld near the Blyderiver Canyon and the Kruger National Park, close to Hoedspruit. Tshukudu, a Big 5 Game Reserve, boasts 3600ha of unspoiled bush with a lovely view to the Drakensberg Mountains. At a very affordable rate, visitors can go on game drives and walks with a knowledgeable ranger sharing the wonders of the bush.
Tshukudu is teeming with game, the birdlife is prolific and the bush has many Acacia and Marula trees that give a real feel of the African Bushveld.
The following animals can be spotted:
Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant, White Rhino, Buffalo, Waterbuck, Kudu, Nyala, Bushbuck, Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe, Warthog, Impala, Steenbuck, Duiker, Porcupine, Jackal, Hyena, Caracal, Serval, Civet, Genet, African Wild Cat, Hippo, Crocodile and many other species...
Over the years we have cared for, raised and reintroduced into the bush a variety of animals. One of them are two cheetah that still let us accompany them on bush walks.
Facilities
Accommodation is in 7 thatched air conditioned cottages with private bathrooms and verandas. The cottages range in size to accommodate 2 -5 guests, the latter being family cottages consisting of 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms.
The camp consists of a central indoor and outdoor eating area under thatched roofs as well as a cosy boma for your evening braai.
There is a big, fully equipped kitchen where you have your own fridge and cupboard. We have two stoves, one six ring one four ring with ovens as well as a microwave for the guest's use. Our staff wash the dishes, assist you with the preparation of food, make fires, help with the braai and generally make you stay comfortable.
Sheets, towels and a limited amount of fire wood are provided. All you have to bring along is your food and drinks.
Relax around the pool or watch the animals drink at the water hole from the viewing platform. There is a wonderful playground to keep the children busy.
For big groups there are two big dormitory-style platforms with ablutions downstairs. The Bush Camp is also ideal for school and youth groups to experience nature first hand.
The purpose of the camps is to teach the youth about conservation awareness, game farm management, identification of birds, trees, grasses and spoors, snakes and snake bite treatment as well as edible plants and berries.
We make the experience exciting including game drives, walks and lectures as well as sports activities such as volley ball, swimming and bush rounders.
