Segaia is a small charming lodge situated in the bushveld in the carefully
managed 1200 ha Buffelsdrift Conservancy in northern Gauteng. Our Conservancy is
well stocked with game, blessed with prolific birdlife, and is infused with that
unique African magic found only in the bush.
Segaia Lodge has a watering hole right in front of the lodge where wild game
come to drink. Enjoy, therefore, stunning African sunsets on the deck whilst
watching zebra, kudu, impala and warthog wandering the grounds of the Lodge. A
lucky few may even spot the reclusive leopard.
Segaia is a small lodge that can accommodate up to 24 guests. Although our units
are self-catering we can provide services, including TV, upon request.
Segaia Lodge's stylish and luxurious interior design reflects the fine taste of
its well-travelled Swiss owner. There is an eclectic mix of Afro-chic finishes,
European furniture and antiques from around the world. Each beautiful piece
carries its own story, and the owner has brought them all together to create an
environment filled with warmth and charm.
The Lodge
The Lodge is a large double-story house filled with a veritable treasure chest
of fascinating artifacts. Amongst many others are included an opium den, a sedan
chair dating back to the 16th century, Le Corbusier designer furniture, an
antique chaise chair, lounge a French grandfather clock and Louis XV chairs.
The ground floor consists of a large 200m2 open-plan living and dining room with
wooden floors throughout. There is a large fireplace in the reading corner where
you can borrow books from the well-stocked reading shelf.
The second floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 shared bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have
luxurious queen-size beds, and the third bedroom has 2 single beds that can be
brought together to make a king-size bed. All the beds have beautiful white
percale cotton sheets and down duvets, and each bedroom has an antique Chinese
cupboard for your clothing.
The first shared bathroom has a shower and toilet, and is fitted with black
slate tiles and white fittings, and the second bathroom has an antique ball and
claw bath, shower and toilet. There is a guest toilet downstairs.
The open-plan kitchen is fitted with beautiful granite tops, a glass top hob
with oven, microwave and fridge.
There is plentiful seating outside on the verandah.
Zebra Unit
Our spacious Zebra unit has a covered, slate-tiled verandah with a green lawn
leading down to the beautiful swimming pool and watering hole. Here you can
enjoy spectacular African sunsets whilst watching game coming to drink at the
nearby watering hole.
A king-sized bed (which can be converted into 2 single beds) dominates the
open-plan interior and is fitted with white percale cotton sheets and a
luxurious down duvet. Set back into the interior of the room to afford total
privacy, you still however have the same beautiful view as you do from your
wooden deck. Two additional single beds can be provided if required.
The open-plan interior also has a lounge area with comfortable couches and a
dining area.
The bathroom has a gloriously large oval bath with unobstructed views of the
bush, and a large shower with massaging shower head to ease away your tensions.
The fully equipped kitchenette fitted with modern appliances provides everything
you need for your meal preparations. Our Zebra unit also has its own outdoor
barbeque/braai on the covered, slate-tiled verandah.

area. Just beyond the pool is a watering hole, and the Leopard unit's wide
covered wooden deck is the perfect spot to view game coming up for a drink.
The luxurious king-sized bed (which can be converted into 2 single beds) is
stylishly positioned in the large open-plan interior, and is fitted with white
percale cotton sheets and a down duvet. An additional single bed can be provided
if required.
The bathroom is tastefully designed for total relaxation, complete with large
oval bath and a shower.

Giraffe Unit and Warthog Unit (the Old Farmhouse)
The beautiful Giraffe and Warthog units are set back deep into the bushveld,
totally apart from the main Lodge. Kudu and impala are often seen grazing under
the trees, and a delightful gravel walkway takes you through unspoiled bushveld
to the main pool area.
Although the Giraffe and Warthog Units are adjoining, they're completely private
with their own separate verandas, gazebos, tables and chairs, oil lanterns and
torches.
Each unit has 2 bedrooms, each with a wonderful king-sized bed (can be converted
into 2 single beds) in white percale cotton sheets and a down duvet. The rooms
do not have en-suite bathrooms, but the skillful layout provides each room with
its own shower and toilet.
The open-plan living room and dining areas have chic earthy tones and textures,
successfully linking the interior of the units with the beautiful African
bushveld outside.
The Giraffe and Warthog Units each have a fully equipped kitchenette fitted with
modern appliances, providing everything you need for your meal preparations.
Each unit also has its own outdoor barbeque/braai on the verandah.
