KlipKuile
Klipkuile bush camp is a comfortable down to earth experience. The name refers to the unique natural rock pools in the Klein Sterkrivier which is the heart of this place. The camp is set on the edge of a valley with the rock pools in the river right below. Days are based around the clear water pools with swimming, reclining and exploring to your heart's content. Opposite the valley, the famous Sterkrivier Castle, started in 1999 is to this day in the process of 'growing' out of the rock, an impressive sight to behold from a distance.
This unique bushveld hide out is a two and a half hour’s drive from Pretoria, ideal for a weekend getaway for small groups (2-13 people). Bigger groups can be accommodated when including the tent stands. The camp is perched on 400Ha of pristine Waterberg bushveld. The view on the mountain range is spectacular from here. Approximately 30km length of jeep tracks meander creatively through the farm. These roads are great for hiking, not all suitable for non 4x4 vehicles, but 100% fun for mountain biking.
Klipkuile is a game farm boasting many small and medium antelope to eland, as well as buffalo (kindly and calmly change your hiking route if you happen to bump into the latter on foot).
The Camp consists of a thatched roof lapa overlooking the river, and two chalets. Guests sleep in the lapa and the chalets. Cooking is done over the open fire in the lapa or outside in the boma.
Here is no electricity or cell phone reception. Klipkuile is a place to forget the world and surrender to nature’s pace. The lazy blue tailed lizards who love baking in the sun in and around the camp will remind you of this, just in case you forget.
