Set snug in amongst the hills of the Suikerbosrand, Klipkraal Guestfarm offers the perfect sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the nearby city life.

Klipkraal is situated on the farms Rietfontein, Hartebeesfontein and Stryfontein in the Heidelberg/Vereeniging/Villiers triangle (near the Vaal Dam), 100km south of Johannesburg.

Kiepersol Cottage
This stone cottage nestles amongst Kiepersol trees in the hillocks of the Suikerbosrand and is ideal for a couple or young family.

Blinkblaar-Wag-'n-Bietjie Guesthouse
From here guests have a 360º view on the surrounding Suikerbosrand hills and waving grass fields. Enjoy beautiful sunsets from the cosy braai area.

Habitat Hiking Trail Basecamp

The Habitat hiking trail basecamp can accommodate a total of thirty hikers in nine separate rooms, with a spacious lapa and braai facilities overlooking the dam. Canoes and life jackets available free of charge for rowing. Visitors to the basecamp are welcome to make use of 'Die Raadsaal' to host a conference/teambuilding/prayer meeting.

Die Plaashuis

This beautifully renovated old farmhouse is walking distance from the dam at the Habitat hiking trail basecamp.

Die Opstal
Die Opstal is a very old farmhouse which forms part of the main farm and is about 900m away from where the owners stay. Guests will be able to see the cattle, geese, sheep and horses, making it a true farm experience.

Die Stal
The building used many moons ago as part of the farm’s diary, has been transformed into two cosy bedrooms. Die Stal is located 600m away from where the owners stay. Guests will be able to see the cattle, geese, sheep and horses, making it a true farm experience.

Die Werf
Die Werf is a new addition to our accommodation. Die Werf is a beautiful farmhouse
on the adjacent farm.

Farm activities

  •  Bird Viewing: The farm is abundant in birdlife. More than 120 species have been identified - a bird checklist is available.
  •  Hiking: Klipkraal Hiking Trail is an accredited trail (HOSA) Please visit www.footprint.co.za/klipkraal.htm for more information.
    There are two main day hiking trails : Panorama – 13km and Kraal - 10km. Shorter versions of these trails are available.
  • Trail Runs: Three trail runs available (7km, 13km and 21km).
  • Farm dam: Free use of canoes for rowing on the dam.
  • Volleyball Court at Habitat Basecamp.
  • Cycling: Bring mountain bikes to cycle on the mountain bike trails.
  • No quad bikes, pets or fishing allowed.
  • No smoking inside the huts.
