We can’t wait for you to join us at our family-run and owned Bed & Breakfast in the beautiful KZN Midlands. We are a nine-room accommodation establishment situated on 7,5 hectares of lush Midlands land at Lidgetton, in the heart of the Midlands Meander. We’re on the R103 between Howick and Nottingham Road.

NO MINIMUM STAY CONDITIONS
Caladdi B&B is the perfect accommodation for the overnighter, weekender, or even the longer-staying guest who wants to get away from it all for a while. You choose – we have no minimum or maximum stay conditions. You’re invited to get the most out of your stay by checking-in early and checking out late (by prior arrangement). This will ensure that you have loads of time to explore the beautiful Midlands Meander.

CLOSE TO ALL THE MIDLANDS MEANDER ATTRACTIONS
We’re less than 10 minutes drive from the inspiring Nelson Mandela Capture Site and Apartheid Museum. All the other attractions of the Midlands Meander, including Piggly Wiggly, are within easy reach. These include arts and crafts, restaurants and shops.

A CHARMING WEDDING VENUE
We’re one of the Midlands’ most charming wedding venues, catering to intimate weddings of up to 70 guests. We’re also close to numerous other wedding venues on the Midlands Meander. So whether you’re holding your wedding here, or attending one nearby, we provide the perfect accommodation option.

CHILD-FRIENDLY
Caladdi B&B has great children’s facilities (wooden jungle gym, swings, slide, bike track – and lots of space for them to play). We welcome kids of all ages! We also have a walled-off outdoor swimming pool. We’re pet-friendly, by arrangement, and have our own dogs on the property, but they are extremely child-friendly. We also have horses and a pony, Pocket Rocket, in our paddock and free-range hens and chicks.

OUR ROOMS

Cabernet Family Suite
Our spacious Cabernet Family Suite is a lovely 2 bedroom unit with a cosy lounge area separating the 2 rooms. It’s perfect for a family of 4 having a queen size bed in the 1st room, and 2 single beds in the other which can be converted to another double bed on request. Each room has its own shower en-suite facilities and the beds are all fitted with poly percale linen.

Pinotage Suite
The Pinotage Suite is a spacious 3 sleeper room which has a queen size bed in the main area, and a single bed in the adjacent bed sitter area. It has a shower en-suite bathroom and shares the entrance door with the Merlot Suite. All beds are fitted with quality poly percale linen and there are tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Pinot Noir Suite
The Pinot Noir room is one of two veranda suites; each with a door leading out to a covered veranda, overlooking a lush paddock which is soon to have horses in it. They are the only rooms with full en-suite facilities (shower and bath), therefore if you require bath facilities, be sure to request one of these rooms. The Pinot Noir room has a queen size bed fitted with poly percale linen and a dual control electric blanket. If required, the room is spacious enough to accommodate an extra single bed for one child.

Chenin Blanc Suite
The Chenin Blanc room is our second veranda suite; with a door leading out to a covered veranda overlooking a lush paddock which is soon to have horses in it. The room has full en-suite facilities (shower and bath), if you require bath facilities, be sure to request this room. The Chenin Blanc room has a queen size bed fitted with poly percale linen and a dual control electric blanket. If required, the room is are spacious enough to accommodate an extra single bed for one child.

Petite Chenin Guest Room
The Petite Chenin room is small but comfortable guest room, ideal for older kids wanting their own room, or for that quick one night wedding or function stay-over. The room has its own shower en-suite facility as well as a tea/ coffee station.The Petite Chenin room has two single beds both fitted with poly percale linen and dual control electric blankets.

Merlot Suite
The Merlot suite at Caladdi B&B is spacious and comfortable. It shares the same access door as the Pinotage room but is a separate unit. It’s ideal for families looking for a little separation but who wish to remain next door to one another. All beds are fitted with quality poly percale linen and there are tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Chardonnay Suite
Our Chardonnay Suite at Caladdi B&B is a comfortable room with its own private entrance and wooden decked area. It overlooks our gardens. It has a cosy shower en-suite bathroom, a queen size bed, a small sitting area and a tea/coffee station.

Petite Verdot
Comfortable and cosy Petite Verdot is one of Caladdi B&B’s smaller rooms. It consists of a queen-size bed fitted with poly percale linen and a dual control electric blanket. It has a shower en-suite bathroom. The room has tea/coffee-making facilities.

PLACES TO SEE

Nelson Mandela Capture Site This is where Nelson Mandela, our beloved former President, was captured and arrested on 5 August 1962 by the apartheid security police. The exhibition and sculpture are open daily from 9am-4pm. Please note that it is quite a long walk down to the iconic sculpture pictured here, and one that toddlers may battle with.

Nottingham Road Brewery – 033 266 6728. This is situated on the R103 on Rawdons Estate. There you’ll be able to stock up on the well-known craft beer, made on the property, including varieties such as Tiddley Toad or Pickled Pig. Please note the brewery shop is open Tuesday to Saturday 8am-5pm; Sundays from 8am-3pm. It’s closed on Mondays.

ACTIVITIES

Karkloof Canopy Tours: 033 330 3415 – This is an exciting outing for the adventurous. Situated 10 mins from Howick, the tour costs R595pp – or book through Caladdi B&B and receive a 10% discount. Each tour lasts between 2 – 4 hours.

MTB trails: If you’re an avid mountain biker you will love the area we’re situated in. Caladdi is surrounded by amazing trails, and we can advise you on routes. Wayne is able to advise in this regard, he knows the trails as he rides them often. We’re so lucky to have this all on our doorstep.

Golf courses: If it’s a round of golf you’re looking for, we have beautiful courses nearby. Gowrie Golf Course on the Midlands Meander (033 266 6348) or Bosch Hoek Golf Club at Balgowan.

Local ceramics and Fine Art: We’re 5 mins away from the gorgeous ZULU LULU ART HOUSE at the popular Piggly Wiggly centre. ZULU LULU is a contemporary South African ceramic studio producing the collectable ‘Dlamini’ family of figurines. Trayci and Stuart Tompkins bring together a mix of their favourite Fine artists and Ceramic makers in their country gallery.

Caladdi’s rating: Highly recommended for relaxed dining. This family run restaurant on the Dargle/Impendle Road was established in February 2009. They welcome children and have a fenced play area and jungle gym. Lunch is served from 11am to 3pm: Wednesday to Sunday. Dinner is served from 6pm to 9pm: Tuesday to Sunday (Kitchen closes at 8pm on Sundays). They’re open for lunch on public holiday Mondays and Tuesdays.
