We are a working ostrich farm situated at the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains in Schoemanshoek, just 14 km on your way from Oudtshoorn to the World Famous Cango Caves. Watch as we farm with ostrich chicks and fully grown ostriches in season.

Enjoy lunch and dinner in our a la carte Restaurant with a spectacular view of mountains, gardens and the Grobelaarsriver that crosses our farm. It is a historic building with the Old Mill still inside the Restaurant. Approx. 150 years old. The farm obtained its name from the old mill. All the wheat from the valley was milled on the farm. At that stage there were hundreds of mills all over the country. In Oct. 2003 Christo & Doret Spies changed the old building into an a la carte Restaurant. The Restaurant is open daily.

We also offer the facilities for conferences and wedding functions.

It is a peaceful farm atmosphere and you will experience an unforgettable stay.

The normal 4-star rooms for two has a veranda with a view of our spectacular farm. Room includes bathroom with shower, aircon, coffee & tea facilities and fridge. Large Double Room for two with full bathroom & balcony.

4 Star Family Accommodation

Our family 4-star unit has two separate rooms, each with their own en-suite bathroom with shower. Unit includes TV, fan, aircon, coffee and tea facilities and fridge. Only a few metres away from our a la carte Restaurant. Portable braai also available.

4 Star Self Catering Units

Self Catering Units for family with 2 separate inter-leading bedrooms each with it's own en-suite bathroom. A lounge area with sleeper couch, television as well as a kitchenette with all necessary self catering equipment.

We are only 3km from Cango Ostrich Farm, 8km from the World Famous Cango Caves, 9km from the Rust and Vrede Waterfall, 18km from the Swartberg Mountains, 100km from Prince Albert, 90km from "The Hell", 15km from Oudtshoorn Museum, 10km from Cango Wildlife Ranch, Horse riding 3km and 350km from Cape Town.

De Oude Meul Restaurant

Enjoy lunch and dinner in our a la carte Restaurant. De Oude Meul Restaurant Oudtshoorn is no ordinary Restaurant. It is a historic building with the Old Watermill still inside the Restaurant. Approx. 150 years old.

All of our Ostrich and Chicken dishes are Halaal. The Restaurant is known for the wide variety of venison dishes served in the restaurant. People come from wide and far for the experience.

We are also known for the wildlife scenery and river in front of the Restaurant that creates a peaceful yet romantic atmosphere! We are situated at the foothills of the Swartberg mountains and are also surrounded by mountains. Truly The little paradise in the Klein Karoo!
