Little Long Creek

For a little bit of heaven, on the outskirts of the Drakensberg mountains only 2 - 2 1/2 hours drive from Johannesburg, come to Little Long Creek for a self catering getaway guaranteed to refresh a weary body and mind. Very privately situated on a 2000ha Bonsmara stud cattle farm, a registered conservancy, with only birds, antelopes and hills for company, this is the ideal retreat to relax and recharge and have the perfect family outing.

A lot was done to make this isolated chalet a well equipped and peaceful home from home. It is clean, spacious and the interior and exterior braai-area caters for both good and bad weather. The chalet sleeps 6 with two bathrooms and the adjacent rondavel for two persons (in total 8 persons).

Fly Fishing & Water Sports
A beautiful 7ha dam is situated in front of the chalet. It is well stocked with Florida Bass and lends itself well to water sport such as swimming, windsurfing, canoeing and kite skiing. The 4km stream with it's 3 weirs makes for wonderful sightseeing and leads to the perennial Kommandospruit with it's indigenous yellow fish, which is especially active from January to April.

Other Activities
The beautiful landscape is perfect for long walks and mountain biking (please bring your own bikes). The huge variety of veld flowers in the summer months (November to January) and cosmos in March/April is a real treat for the veld and flower lover. The area is well known for it's wonderful bird life on the outstretched grasslands, wetlands and hills of the North Eastern Free State - a birdwatchers paradise.

Wing shooting
A variety of bird species are available in the hunting season like Guineafowl, Redwing Francolin, Swainson's Francolin, Egyptian Goose and Yellowbilled duck.
