The Old Trading Post is situated amongst the lakes and wetlands of Wilderness
in the rural settlement of Duiwerivier (1.7 km off the N2). This peaceful and
tranquil environment within the Wilderness Section of the Garden Route National
Park offers abundant birdlife, walks, trails, water sports and cycling. The
beaches and village of Wilderness are within easy reach (2 - 7 km.)
Our comfortable and well appointed rooms offer tea & coffee facilities, fridges,
television, fine white linen, towels, fans, heaters, electric blankets and more!
Guests can book either on a Bed & Breakfast, Self-catering or Bed only basis,
depending on the room chosen. Braai facilities are available. Children and pets
are welcome.
Accommodation consists of:
Strelitzia Cottage (family unit) - accommodates a family of 4 with a
double bed in the bedroom and bunk beds in the living area, en-suite bathroom
with bath and shower, fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining areas with
air-conditioning. (self catering option available, please enquire)
The Tin Room (twin room) - adjoining Strelitzia Cottage, has 2 single
beds, en-suite bathroom with shower, air-conditioning and can be used as an
extension to the cottage for larger groups.
The Garden Room (double room) - free standing bedroom in the shade of an
ancient Milkwood Tree, with double bed, kitchenette, en-suite bathroom with
shower and courtyard with outdoor seating. (self catering option available,
please enquire)
Lara's Room (double room) - situated in the main house, with double bed and
romantic bathroom with original cast iron bath and shower.
The lovingly restored old homestead, filled with cottage furniture has two
lounges for communal use. Breakfast is served in the dining room or on the
veranda. Dinner is available on prior arrangement. Wireless internet is
available.
Activities:
Enjoy time on our long sunny veranda, cool off and relax around the pool or find
a quiet spot in the garden. We have mountain bikes and a canoe for hire. Paddle
down to Island Lake and the Serpentine to enjoy the views and birds or cycle the
back roads to Wilderness, spend time in the Malachite bird hide or walk one of
the trails in the National Park.
There is plenty to do in Wilderness - Take to the beaches or watch whales from
Dolphin Point, try one of the adventure activities and enjoy the many popular
restaurants. Enjoy the local week end markets or take a scenic drive. We are
centrally situated to visit the nearby towns and attractions along the Garden
Route.
