What To Do:
On Riverbend
Our visitors are able to experience the quiet pleasures of the south coast
wildlife within our twelve acres with its' lush terrain and scenic views.
Birding: paths winding amid coastal bush give excellent bird viewing.
Tree Spotting: KwaZulu-Natal has over 750 species of indigenous trees.
Home to nearly 75% of South Africa's tree species
Butterflies: the majority of South Africa's over 800 species of
butterflies are found in KwaZulu-Natal. We have many of the host plants right
here and on sunny days butterflies abound.
Fishing: a smallish dam on the property has tilapia (bream) and is
suitable for children to fish. The Tweni River has mullet which may be found in
deep pools in the river.
Canoeing: Tweni River is a slow-moving river and is, at our level being
close to the sea, brackish. The water level is affected by the river mouth
opening/closing. During a rainy summer the river mouth is often washed away, but
during the dry winter months it tends to stay high. We have 4 two man canoes
available for hire. Paddle upstream and discover the mysteries of the River.
Walking: there are a number trails in and around Riverbend.
