Absorb the stunning view, as you sit on the wide wooden deck at Shayamoya’s central lodge. Panoramic images of the Lebombo Mountains, the Pongola River as it enters Lake Jozini and the unspoilt bushveld of the Phongolo Nature Reserve. Privately operated by the Blevin family, together with their staff, Shayamoya exudes a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Children are welcome, there are trampolines, table tennis, archery and other games to entertain the young ones. Meet Nandi, the Spotted Eagle Owl, a special character who resides at Shayamoya.
Accommodation:
The 10 chalets including 1 Honeymoon unit and 1 Family unit are each privately positioned to command spectacular views from the balconies. Each chalet sleeps 2 people and has an en-suite bathroom, which leads to the special feature, the outdoor enclosed shower. Spectacular indigenous gardens of over 60 species of aloes are to be admired.
The heart of the venue is the open plan central lodge with bar, restaurant, lounge and sundeck. Traditional South African braais can be enjoyed under the stars which is a favourite amongst guests, or order from the ala carte menu. The menus are prepared with love from wholesome recipes.
Recreation: Shayamoya offers a wide variety:
Lake Jozini is the only water in South Africa, which is home to the exciting Tiger Fish. This game fish creates thrills as it leaps and fights your line. Tiger Fishing is Shayamoya’s specialty. The lodge is equipped with professional guides, ski boats, rods and tackle.
Game Drives are conducted on the surrounding Nature Reserve, which hosts an abundant variety game. Bird life abounds with the combination of water birds, bush birds and bird of prey.
River Safaris up the Pongola River entail viewing hippo pods wallowing, crocodiles baking on the banks, and water birds and wildlife going about their every day chores.
Guided Rhino Walks get you closer to nature as you creep and crackle along the paths in lieu of the Black or White Rhino siting.
Discover the intriguing Maputaland! Enjoy day outings to view the magnificent Tembe elephants, horse riding safaris with Pakamisa, interactions with Bayethe Zulu elephants, snake and croc farm, or visit authentic Cultural villages. Alternatively head for the pristine Indian Ocean beaches or one of the many Game Reserves in the nearby area, Mkuze, Itala, Ndumu, Tembe, Hluhluwe/Umfolozi are all in an hour’s drive from Shayamoya.

Easily accessible, only 2km off the N2 Highway and 8km from Golela/Swaziland border post, between the towns of Pongola and Mkuze, and only 1km of dirt road.
